“Being in a wheelchair I need to keep my upper body strength strong. I came to 1614 in 2002 to start an exercise program that Mike designed for my specific needs. He keeps moving my exercises forward. He is always challenges me. Encouragement is ever present. Thanks Mike! 1614 ROCKS!!!!” .
“For my 41st birthday, I chose to compete in a figure competition. The staff at 1614 was recommended highly to me by a friend. My experience working with Dino was wonderful! He developed a well rounded plan that included weight training, cardio, and a nutrition plan to help me reach my goal. Dino’s experience and knowledge had a significant impact on my success. He was supportive, yet focused enough on my goal to help push me through the challenging times. Dino and the rest of the staff at 1614 have my everlasting gratitude.” .
“Mike and his team at 1614 were a true inspiration to me as I went through my journey from flab to fab! I could not have done it without their words of encouragement to push me forward and keep me motivated until I reached my goal. 1614 is great because the clients range from students to retirees and everyone in between; no matter where you are on your journey, you fit right in and always feel comfortable. The staff is knowledgeable and more importantly approachable and always willing to help! I can never thank Mike and his team in Bear and in Newark for all their help!”
“Being a normal late forty something year old, concerned about health and appearance I decided to join a gym in an effort to enhance both. I was searching for a gym that was clean, friendly, and didn’t have that dungenous feeling, that’s when I met Mike Womer, owner of 1614 gym. I discussed with Mike the potential of taking my body from average to show shape, he assured me if I was willing to commit we could hit our goals. At that time I joined his gym which was a first for me, and over the next several months I worked with Mike and several of his other trainers who educated me about proper diet, proper training routines, and the importance of form to reduce the risk of injury. In 10 months they did what I thought couldn’t be done, they took my body from average to ripped. On the outside I looked great the residual effects of reduced cholesterol and blood pressure in check made me feel even better.”
“I’ve never enjoyed going to the gym until I started attending the 1614 Gym. I was 50lbs overweight and dreaded even going through the doors, but I did and I am still going. The 1614 Gym is like no other as you feel like your walking into ‘family time’.
The staff here is incredible as they address you by name, are very knowledgeable about the equipment and never hesitate to assist you with an exercise that you’re not so sure you are doing right. Most importantly to me is that they are my cheerleaders, especially my trainer Mike. Even on the days we don’t work out he’ll stop by to ask how I’m doing and gives me a little push to go an extra mile because ‘you can do it.’
Now that I’m on the path to being ‘healthy’, I never dread going through those doors.”
